Marilyn Collins Biography

Marilyn Collins is an award winning artist.  She has been painting over 20 years and teaching for 15 years.  She earned her MFA in painting/sculpture from Penn State University, State College, Pa. in l993.  Her BFA in painting, summa cum laude, came three years earlier from Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, Pa.  She has taught at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., Penn State University, DuBois Campus, College Place, Dubois, Pa. and as assistant Professor of Art, Kent State University, East Liverpool Campus, East Liverpool, Ohio.  Her work has been shown on national, state and local levels.  She has done artists residencies in New York, California, and Wyoming.  She traveled to Mali, Africa to study bologan  mud cloth and to Ghana, Africa to study Adrinka Funeral Cloth.  She won a grant to study sculptural beehives in Slovakia.  She is currently retired and continues to paint and show her artwork.  She resides in Payson, AZ.
